Tent Drying Service

IMPORTANT NOTE: As mould can appear in as little as 24 hours, shipping items is a priority, we therefore recommend you book this service before your trip, to ensure you can post your tent to us as quickly as possible, potentially even from a post office local to the campsite, on the last day of your trip.

Drying Service Overview

• Removes all moisture from the tent fabric
• Prevents mould, mildew and odour from forming
• Ensures the tent is safe for long‑term storage
• Uses a controlled, temperature‑regulated drying room
• Includes a visual check for damp patches before packing
• Helps prevent hydrolysis by ensuring the tent is fully dry before storing
• Does not remove dirt, mud or stains
• Does not remove or kill mould
• Does not clean or reproof the tent
• Does not repair damage, tears or broken components
• Does not stop hydrolysis if the PU coating is already degrading

What’s Included in the Drying Service

• Pre-work inspection
• Customer report following the inspection
• Drying in our temperature controlled drying room
• Minimum 48‑hour drying cycle
• Airflow circulation to prevent odour and mildew
• checks for damp patches before packing
• Packing into your original bag where possible

Pre‑Work Inspection:

When your tent arrives, we carry out a basic pre‑work inspection. This inspection is referenced in your Terms & Conditions and includes:

• Confirming tent size for accurate pricing
• Checking for damage, missing components or wear
• Identifying mould, staining, odours or fabric issues
• Assessing whether repairs or additional treatments may be required
• Creating a video for the customer report

Cleaning Price

We price this service based on the approximate amount of material (square foot). This ensures fair, consistent pricing across all tent models.
As a reference, here are example costs:
2 person = Endurance Refuge 200 – £13 / Vango Scafell 200 – £11
3 person = Endurance Refuge 300 – £17 / Vango Scafell 300 – £13
4 person = Endurance Refuge 400 – £22 / Vango Tay 400 £17

Discounts are available for multiple tents.

Mould Treatment

Mould treatment is an additional service, not included in the base tent drying service. If you suspect or know of mould in your tent at the time of enquiry, you will need the Tent Cleaning Service.

Delivery & Packaging

We use Parcel Force for smaller loads or Same Day Couriers for large bulk loads. If equipment is to be shipped to/from us via Parcel Force, we ask that the customer pack their items in boxes based on the following criteria:

• Maximum length: 70cm
• Maximum width: 50cm
• Maximum height: 50cm
• Maximum weight: 30 kg

If your boxes exceeds these limits, additional fee’s maybe required.

When sending items to us please ensure that all items are packed safely and reasonably so that they are protected from being damaged during transit.

Repairs, Maintenance and Any Other Additional Work

If we find any issues during the pre‑work inspection (muddy/dirty tent, broken poles, damaged eyelets, worn zips, missing pegs) we’ll let you know and provide a no‑obligation quote for any additional work.

How Often Should You Dry Your Tent?

Your tent must be fully dry after every single use, even if you plan to use it again within a few days. Packing away a damp tent, even slightly damp from condensation, wet zips, or folded seams, creates the perfect environment for mould to develop.
Mould is more than just a cosmetic issue. It is a health hazard, especially in enclosed spaces like tents, and poses increased risks for people with breathing conditions such as asthma, or those who may be more vulnerable, including pregnant individuals.
Mould can begin forming within 24–48 hours when moisture is trapped inside fabric. Even a small amount of dampness is enough for spores to grow, spread, and permanently stain the material. Ensuring your tent is completely dry before storage is the most effective way to protect both your health and your equipment.
